Oubari Pharma was founded in 1989 as the first private pharmaceutical company to initiate sterile production in Syria. It started producing both sterile and oral dosage products under license from renowned European manufacturers such as Rhone Poulenc, Roussel Uclaf, Dr. Mann, and Lisa Pharma.
1994 marked the beginning of Oubari Pharma’s exporting activities to African and Middle Eastern countries. In 1999, Oubari Pharma became one of the first companies in Syria to be operating on international recognizable standards such as ISO 9001 with highly equipped laboratories and equipment.
The year 2000 marked a major milestone in the company’s history as it relocated its production to a new facility situated in the environmentally and ecologically clean area of Al Zerbeh (20km from Aleppo city). The new premises boast an area of 50,000 m2 of buildings spread over 120,000 m2 of land and is tailored to comply with GMP requirements. It features dedicated buildings for cephalosporins and penicillins, as well as new high-end lines for the production of soft gelatin capsules, dermatology products, sterile I.V. bottles, disinfectants, and ointments.
Today, the Company employs over 500 personnel with products distributed in numerous countries around the world including Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Iraq, Sudan, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Mauritania, Kenya, Libya and Ghana. Its production facilities are now considered one of the largest in the Middle East, manufacturing a wide spectrum of both under-licensed and generic pharmaceutical products.
